Giannou earned two penalties and two assists in Australia's 7-0 demolition of Tajikistan in a World Cup qualifier in Adelaide on Thursday night.

The Socceroos will advance to next stage of qualification as top of their group if they avoid defeat against Jordan in Sydney on Tuesday night.

The only thing missing for Giannou, a Greek-born central striker, was a goal - and he thought he got one.

Socceroos coach Ange Postecoglou lured Giannou back into the Australian scene and, after his promising debut against Tajikistan, he has no regrets about his decision.

"I'm very happy to be here, I have been waiting for it for a long time," Giannou said.

"I think I did okay for the first game. I had a bit of nerves before the match. I think as more time passes, I will MagistaX black australia be better and better.

"I'm very happy with the whole team, they are very friendly.

"Since day one I have felt very comfortable, they made me feel like I have been here for a while, which is very hypervenom ii white important."

Postecoglou was heartened by Giannou's debut, given he had only been part of the Socceroos set-up for the matter of days.

"We think there is something there, if we continue to give him opportunities and he continues to grow into the role," Postecoglou said.

"It's his first camp, he literally got introduced to the guys 48 hours ago.

"We weren't expecting anything major ... I wanted him to play 90 minutes, I think it's important he gets an understanding of the kind of team we are.
